The Astro Collection

William Waris, Liza sanborn, & Kolby Krishna

The Orbit Collection is a collaborative furniture series designed with two peers, inspired by the flight paths and motion of satellites. The collection explores how rolled metal tubes can express movement and weightlessness through clean geometry and repetition.

Metalworking

Integrated form studies, CAD modeling, and hands-on fabrication to refine the final designs.

Design

Explored how geometry and repetition can visually express movement through structure. Balanced aesthetic lightness with structural strength, emphasizing flow and continuity.

The Astro Table

The Astro Table drew inspiration from mid-century space-age design, blending playful geometry with refined simplicity. It was build and designed by me in my first furniture course. Its curved surfaces and floating form reflect the optimism and experimentation of the era. The table became inspiration for us as well for the Orbit Collection.
